Pall-Ex acquires Shears Brothers and Bowden Transport

LBR Staff Writer Published 15 February 2017

European palletised freight network Pall-Ex has acquired two of its members, Dorset-based Shears Brothers and Bowden Transport, based in Essex.

Shears Brothers acquisition allows Pall-Ex to cover BH, DT, GY, JE and SP postcodes, in addition to part of the PO and SO postcode areas.

Since 1997, Shears Brothers has been a member and long-standing partner at Pall-Ex.

Bowden Transport, which joined the Pall-Ex network in 1999, is said to cover the IG, RM, SS and part of the CM and E postcode areas.

Pall-Ex has purchased the assets of its logistics unit, which will be traded with a new name known as Bowden Logistics Services.

Pall-Ex managing director Kevin Buchanan said: “The purchase of Shears Brothers and Bowden Logistics demonstrates our commitment to creating centres of excellence around the country.

“By investing in established firms like these, we can ensure continuation of outstanding service and customer care across the network. It will also mean we can provide a broader range of logistics services.”

Bowden Group CEO Roy Bowden said: I’m very pleased to be handing over the logistics arm of this business to Pall-Ex, I know that it will be in safe hands. The transition is going extremely well and the customers are already happy with the progress we have made.”

Established in 1996, Pall-Ex Group provides palletised freight distribution across the UK.
