XPO Logistics renews contract with Adama Agricultural Solutions UK

LBR Staff Writer Published 20 June 2017

XPO Logistics has received a renewed contract from the crop protection specialist Adama Agricultural Solutions UK.

Under the deal, XPO Logistics will offer logistics and transportation solutions for Adama from its 200,000 ft² facility in Derbyshire.

Located at Amber Park in South Normanton, the facility features 21,000 pallet locations, which will be used to deliver around 200 products to 232 delivery points across the UK through using its fleet.

XPO will manage the handling of around 1.6 million kg of products per year at the site, enabling to pick and pack around 880,000 units to distribute on 600kg pallets

XPO also provided its advanced real-time reporting, product labelling and warehouse management systems to further support Adama.

Adama finance and operations director Mark Sabine said: “XPO has done an excellent job over the past three years and we look forward to continuing to work with their committed team.

“They understand both the seasonal and weather-related impact on demand, with the latter driving substantial changes in volumes throughout the supply chain.”

XPO Logistics director, chemical, manufacturing and shared user solutions business unit director Brian McDill said: “We provide a dedicated transport fleet with a supporting network of vehicles - with ADR-certified drivers – to ADAMA in response to their specific needs.”

Adama, which is a subsidiary of China National Chemical Corp, produces pesticides and other agrochemical products for customers in around 100 countries.

The company provides herbicides, seed treatments and other products for the customers in the UK.

In October 2016, XPO Logistics divested its truckload business to Canadian transportation firm TransForce for about $558m.
